Birthday bash at Le Barrage

I played at Le Barrage hotel and restaurant in Mauzac a couple of years ago. (Mother’s Day, if memory serves.) A couple of weeks ago (I’m catching up with missing blog posts today), I was invited back to play for the birthday party of Amanda, the owner.

She’d asked me to learn a few songs to accompany Cassandra, who works there. A Madonna, an Adele, and this well-known song from Lady Gaga. This was Cassandra’s first-ever public performance and she did a great job. She has a huge voice for a small(ish) person and I hope she gets the vocal training she deserves…

Not exactly a shallow voice, as you’ll hear…

The evening turned into a sing-for-all and I found myself reading chords off the Internet to accompany people doing anything from Edith Piaf to John Lennon. It was seriously good fun and the atmosphere was excellent. I ran into Amanda the other day and there’s talk of further gigs over the winter…
