Andy Wilson-Taylor has appeared on this blog a couple of times so far—and this wedding was the main reason why.
If you’re new to Andy, he’s a singer, drummer, bass player, guitarist, pianist, composer, and frontman for Midgar. Which means he’s perfect for SouthWest when Wil (or, actually, any of us) is not available. A consummate professional, Andy learnt our set (while also filming for a TV show due out in the spring—more on that later), rocked the gig in Cadouin the week before, then did an outstanding performance for our first wedding at the Manoir du Bout du Pont, near Eymet.
It was a real pleasure to play at this beautiful venue (which is also very close to where we all live, so… no travel or accommodation costs for the client!). I learnt a Coldplay song for the service, and played for the cocktail party; and the food was excellent, including a vegan option for our special guest (and veggie for me—we’re a very 21st Century wedding band).
Here’s a snap of the ceremony location, and there’ll be a couple of videos to follow soon—including a client request sung by Andy, also performing on guitar. If there is an end to this man’s talents, we have yet to find it.
Andy, thank you again—looking forward to supporting you again soon!
UPDATE
I put a video together of Andy performing Mr Brightside to kick off the second set at this wedding. Check it out:
